Let's take a look at what's inside
Everything you need to get started with a carnivore diet—safely, confidently, and successfully.
Module 1: Carnivore Diet Foundations
- Lesson 1: Evolutionary Roots of a Carnivore Diet - You’ll explore why animal-based eating isn’t a fad—it’s part of your biology. We’ll look at nutrition through the lens of human evolution and how a carnivore diet meets nutritional needs for optimal health in the modern world.
- Lesson 2: Nutritional Composition of a Carnivore Diet - You’ll learn exactly what makes the carnivore diet so nutrient-dense—and how animal foods alone can provide everything your body needs to thrive. We’ll break down the myths around “missing nutrients” and help you feel confident in your choices.
- Lesson 3: Key Similarities and Differences Between Carnivore and Keto Diets - If you’ve done keto before, this lesson will be a game-changer. You’ll discover how carnivore builds on keto principles, where they diverge, and why carnivore can be more effective for stubborn symptoms like inflammation, sugar cravings, and digestive distress.
- Lesson 4: Why Fat is Your Body’s Preferred Energy Source - You’ll gain clarity on how your metabolism really works—and why shifting from carbs to fat as fuel enhances satiety and gives you consistent energy throughout the day. No more blood sugar crashes or constant cravings—just stable, efficient fuel your body was designed to use.
Module 2: The History and Science of the Carnivore Diet
- Lesson 1: The Metabolic Mechanisms Behind Keto and Carnivore - You’ll discover how keto and carnivore share the same foundational metabolic pathways—fat-burning, ketone production, and blood sugar regulation—but differ in key ways that can lead to even deeper healing with carnivore. You’ll understand why maintaining healthy blood sugar and insulin levels is a core tenet of these low- and no-carbohydrate strategies.
- Lesson 2: Clinical Research Backing Carnivore and Keto Diets - Not just anecdotes—real science. In this lesson, Dr. Westman takes you through the latest clinical findings that support the use of ketogenic and carnivore diets for obesity, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune disease, and more. You’ll gain the confidence to know this approach isn’t fringe—it’s rooted in published evidence and real-world results.
- Lesson 3: The Role of Protein on a Carnivore Diet - Protein isn’t just a building block—it’s a powerful driver of healing. Learn why a higher-protein, meat-focused diet can be exactly what your body needs to preserve lean mass, control appetite, and finally move the scale if your progress has stalled. You’ll also learn how to customize your protein intake based on your individual goals and how to adjust over time as your body heals.
- Lesson 4: Carnivore’s Impact on Inflammation and Autoimmune Conditions - Autoimmune symptoms, chronic pain, and inflammatory conditions often improve dramatically when plant foods are removed from your diet. This lesson explains why—and how carnivore can help you get to the root of your symptoms instead of simply masking them. Whether you’re dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, IBS, or another inflammatory or autoimmune condition, you’ll understand how this approach gives your immune system the reset it needs.
Module 3: Starting Your Carnivore Journey
- Lesson 1: Carnivore Diet Food List - You’ll get a clear, no-fluff breakdown of exactly what to eat—and what to avoid—on a proper carnivore diet. You’ll learn how to tailor carnivore to be very strict or a bit more flexible, depending on your unique situation and goals. If you’ve ever felt confused by conflicting carnivore advice online, this lesson will simplify everything.
- Lesson 2: Adapting to a Carnivore Diet - Switching from keto or a standard diet to carnivore can come with physical and emotional shifts. In this lesson, you’ll learn what to expect in the first few days and weeks—and how to navigate common challenges and minimize adaptation symptoms so you can stay focused and comfortable as your body transitions to this powerful new way of eating.
- Lesson 3: Adjusting Macronutrients on a Carnivore Diet - Carnivore isn’t one-size-fits-all. This lesson teaches you how to adjust your protein and fat intake to suit your personal goals—whether you’re aiming to lose weight, heal inflammation, or improve energy. You’ll get simple, actionable strategies to fine-tune your macros without overcomplicating things or relying on apps.
- Lesson 4: Important Lab Tests and How to Interpret Them - Curious about how your health is changing on carnivore? This lesson covers the most relevant lab tests to consider—before and after starting the diet—so you can track improvements in metabolic health, inflammation, and more. You’ll also learn how to talk with your doctor about these changes and what to do if your labs raise questions they don’t fully understand.
Module 4: Living a Carnivore Lifestyle
- Lesson 1: Carnivore Diets Reduce Cardiometabolic Risk - In this lesson, you’ll discover how a well-formulated carnivore diet can significantly improve key markers like blood pressure, triglycerides, fasting insulin, and more. Dr. Westman explains how cutting out all plant foods and ultra-processed ingredients can lead to measurable improvements in your cardiovascular and metabolic health—especially if you’re dealing with prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, or insulin resistance.
- Lesson 2: How to Talk to Your Doctor About a Carnivore Diet - If the thought of bringing up carnivore with your physician makes you nervous, you’re not alone. This lesson gives you the confidence and language to have informed conversations with your healthcare provider. You’ll learn which labs to share, how to explain the reasoning behind your dietary choice, and how to respond when your doctor has concerns—even if they’ve never heard of the carnivore approach.
- Lesson 3: Troubleshooting: When Carnivore Isn’t Working - Not seeing the results you expected? Feeling worse instead of better? This lesson addresses the most common pitfalls and mistakes people make when trying carnivore. Whether you’re struggling with fatigue, constipation, stalled weight loss, or stubborn autoimmune and inflammatory symptoms aren’t improving, Dr. Westman walks you through how to assess, adjust, and fine-tune based on your unique situation—without giving up.
- Lesson 4: Navigating Real-world Challenges - From social events and restaurant dining to family meals and travel, staying on a carnivore diet in today’s world can feel tricky. But it doesn’t have to be. This lesson offers practical strategies for living the carnivore lifestyle with ease. You’ll learn how to handle awkward questions, make confident food choices on the go, and create an environment that supports your healing—at home and beyond.

Commonly Asked Questions
Is the Carnivore Made Simple course for beginners only?
Nope! It’s the perfect fit for anyone who is just getting started with their weight loss and health efforts, but it will also be helpful for more experienced carnivore dieters who’d like to understand more of the science and historical context supporting this way of eating. The teaching and support also make this course ideal for anyone who is already following carnivore but needs guidance to adjust and fine-tune things to get optimal results.
How is the carnivore diet different from your keto diet?
Keto and carnivore diets are similar but they have important differences that make them distinct from each other. The main tenet of a ketogenic diet is keeping carbohydrate intake very limited in order to facilitate your body being fueled primarily on fats and ketones while normalizing blood sugar and insulin levels. A carnivore diet is effective for these purposes but it goes further than a keto diet, which includes low-carbohydrate plant foods. Carnivore is a strict elimination diet that removes most potential dietary irritants that could be the underlying causes for difficult-to-treat issues that don’t fully resolve even on a well-formulated keto diet. Carnivore diets do not always result in ketosis, but ketosis is not the goal. The goal is to remove the foods that are most likely to be contributing to seemingly mysterious and intractable ailments. Even though the food choices are more limited, many people find a carnivore diet to be simpler and more straightforward to follow compared to keto because there is no concern about overconsuming carbohydrates.
I did your keto course, but I’m still struggling with autoimmune flareups, digestive issues, skin problems, and other concerns. Will this course help me?
If you have followed a strict ketogenic diet but you’re still experiencing ongoing issues with your health, a carnivore diet may be effective for addressing lingering symptoms. Carnivore is a more powerful elimination diet. There may be low-carbohydrate foods you’ve been including on keto that are unknowingly triggering the issues you’re dealing with. By eliminating all plant foods, a carnivore diet will help you identify these factors and facilitate a return to optimal health. Autoimmune conditions and digestive problems that are difficult to treat and don’t resolve completely on a well-formulated keto diet are the most common things that tend to improve further in response to the stricter elimination aspects of a carnivore diet. Additionally, some people find that carnivore is more effective than keto for weight loss, binge eating, and other stubborn issues if keto has failed to fully address these for you.
Must I follow a carnivore diet – or be planning to start one – to take this course?
Not at all. The course is suitable for carnivore beginners and those already following a carnivore diet as well as anyone who’s simply curious to learn more about an animal-only way of eating. You are not required to start a carnivore diet after enrolling the course.
Who is Dr. Eric Westman?

Are carnivore diets safe for everyone?
Carnivore is generally safe for most people, but it’s best to consult with a healthcare provider if you have certain medical conditions.
How long does it take to see results on carnivore?
Many people notice reduced cravings, increased energy, and improved digestion within the first two weeks. Weight loss and other health benefits typically follow in the first month. (But individual results vary – be patient!)
Why would I pay for a carnivore course when there’s so much free information on the internet?
There is free information readily available on the internet – a lot of it. However, much of what you’ll find comes from unscrupulous “influencers” with no formal training in medicine or nutrition. It’s confusing, overly complicated, and may be scientifically inaccurate. Following the wrong advice can lead you further away from where you want to be. Dr. Westman has long been recognized for following the science and helping people keep things simple. In the Carnivore Made Simple course, you’ll learn a straightforward way to implement or fine-tune a carnivore diet safely and sustainably, so you can reap the benefits for the long term.
What is the length of the Carnivore Made Simple course (CMS)?
CMS is a self-paced video course. You can make your way through the video lessons as quickly or as slowly as you like. In addition to the video lessons, the course includes 2 weeks of support in a private Facebook group (exclusively for CMS students), where Dr. Westman, nutritionist Amy Berger, and the ADAPT team will be there to support you. You will have ongoing, permanent access to all your course materials in a password-protected student portal. All the written content is downloadable, including the lesson transcripts – meaning that you can download and save it for easy access. The videos themselves are not downloadable, but you can log in to your student portal and watch them as many times as you wish.
Can I take the course even if I don’t use Facebook?
Yes. The course itself consists of 16 self-paced video lessons with Dr. Westman, 3 live sessions, plus a library of downloadable resources and guides. The Facebook group is an additional support option. Participating in the group is not required but we recommend it in order to get the full intended course experience and added benefits of support and community.
What if I can’t make the live sessions at 8 pm ET?
No problem. All 3 live sessions will be recorded and the replays will be added to your course portal the very next day. You will be able to ask questions in the private Facebook support group or submit them via email if you opt not to participate in the Facebook group.
What if I need longer term support after the course ends?
We’re here for you! After completing the course, you will have the option to join our alumni membership community for ongoing support and learning. This is an exclusive group that is not available to the general public. You will receive more information about the membership toward the end of the course.
If I join the waitlist, when will I know more?
Once you join the waitlist, there’s nothing more you need to do until the course opens for enrollment on July 28, 2025. You’ll be notified by email as soon as enrollment opens so you won’t miss it.
I am not very tech-savvy. Will I be able to take this online course?
Yes, absolutely. We’re here to help you if you need us! The course is designed to be simple and easy to follow, even for those who aren’t very tech-savvy. You’ll receive clear instructions and support throughout, so you’ll feel confident navigating the course at your own pace.
Do you offer CME credits for healthcare providers for this course?
CME credits are not available for this course at this time. However, Carnivore Made Simple provides science-based education that doctors, nurses, dietitians, nutritionists, and health coaches can use to implement a carnivore diet with patients and clients and guide them safely over the long term.
